Excellent information on setting up the Yoast SEO plugin Eb, thanks very much.
I had got most of it right thankfully, but there were a few things that I managed to improve upon. Now to see if it makes any difference, fingers crossed.

in the CATEGORY URLs section of your guide, doesn’t stripping the categories from URLS auto add the required301 redirects? I’m pretty sure it did but I set up yoast so long ago to even remember, just ran through the guide to double-check mainly the indexing or not indexing of category and tags so thanks!
