Thank you! Passage ranking looks just like a regular search result – the only difference is, it’s a small portion of the web page that is ranking for that search term. As far as I am aware, there’s no way of specifically tracking passage ranking, but some sleuthing in your Google Search Console will probably help you deduce what you are ranking for… for example, if you rank well for a query where you know you don’t have a post on that subject, but you do have a passage on that topic on a blog post. I’m not sure when it will be available globally – as far as I am aware Google hasn’t announced that, but I do know it will first be rolled out in English to other countries, then other languages – so watch this space! Hi Eb, wow this is the first I’m reading about this and I read a lot of SEO stuff! Thank you for explaining it so well too. It’s very interesting as Google search results are bringing fewer clicks these days to websites. I think it has to do with the snippets and maybe click fatigue? But this new passage looks to be a great way to optimize for. I will be updating many old blog posts in the coming weeks and make them much deeper and longer.
