Ads can be a good way to make money from a blog. But to make good money from ads you will need a large number of pageviews. You should also be careful to ensure that ads do not negatively affect your user experience or site speed too much. If they do, this can result in a loss of pageviews and therefore a loss of income. Thank you! I was updating our mailing list and had clicked all over the shop trying to delete cleaned contacts. A quick google led me here and I sorted it within a couple of minutes. Love a good, clear explanation in laymen terms 🙂

In reply to Ashleigh. Definitely leave them up. Or you'll lose any of the benefit of using an old link and it'll basically be like you are starting with a brand new post. I recommend you delete everything that's not salvageable first. Then order your poor quality posts from worst to best and tackle the worst first. That way, the time with the really bad posts will be short. I would also make your poor quality posts hard to find from your reader's perspective, so at least a regular reader won't see them unless they stumble across them in a search. That way, your website will appear high quality to your readers. Hope that helps! Eb :-)

I have a lot of old blog posts that are salvageable, but it’s going to take a while for me to update them all. In the meantime, is it better to leave the poor-quality posts up, or delete them until I have the time to rewrite them?

In reply to Kimberly. Hi Kimberly, Given you have 3 clear categories on your site: homesteading, homemaking and homeschooling, I recommend you eventually have one opt-in freebie for each category. The more opt-in freebies you have the more subscribers you will get. But to start with, just pick one and make that one. I recommend you make your first opt-in freebie something that will appeal to as many of your readers as possible. And once you've created it, make sure you advertise it on your site as a freebie. (Don't just send it to people who sign up to your newsletter.) The whole point of an opt-in offer is it is far more enticing that 'Sign up for my newsletter!' and so you will get far more subscribers. Hope that helps! Eb :-)
